Buchert Audio ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
When you buy a plugin, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment information. We receive your name, email address, and transaction details. We do not store credit card numbers — Stripe handles all payment data securely.
Our plugins do not collect any data, transmit any information, or "phone home" in any way. They operate entirely offline. The only network connection that may occur is during initial license activation.
Our website uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects anonymized usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and general location (country level). No personally identifiable information is shared with Google. You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
When you request a free download or a plugin demo, or actively sign up for the Buchert Audio plugin newsletter, we collect your email address, signup source, related product, and signup timestamp. We use this to provide the download and, when you have consented, to send plugin news, product updates, launch announcements, and related Buchert Audio emails. The download and demo forms state this before you submit them. You can unsubscribe or withdraw consent at any time.
Account. Buchert Audio Listen requires a free account. When you create one, we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text). We send a 6-digit code to your email to confirm it before the app unlocks; the code is stored only as a hash, expires after 15 minutes, and allows a limited number of attempts.
Marketing consent. During sign-up you can separately opt in to receive emails about new levels, new disciplines, and occasional Buchert Audio plugin offers. This is off by default and never required to use the app. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Practice data. By default, the app shares anonymized practice results (which exercise, which level, correct or incorrect) to help us tune difficulty. This is never linked to your name, email, or device — it can be turned off at any time in Settings, and you choose your setting the first time you open the app.
Voice feedback. If you choose to record and send voice feedback from inside the app, the recording is sent anonymously (not linked to your account). It is transcribed to text by us and the audio recording is then permanently deleted; only the anonymous text is kept.
Account deletion. You can permanently delete your account, name, and email address at any time from Settings inside the app. This cannot be undone.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties, except:

We retain your purchase records (name, email, transaction) for as long as your license is active, and for up to 5 years after for legal and accounting purposes.
Newsletter and free-download signup records are retained until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent, or ask us to delete them, unless we need to keep limited records for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons.
Buchert Audio Listen accounts (your name and email address) are retained until you delete your account in the app or ask us to delete it.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. All transactions are processed over HTTPS. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe, which is PCI DSS compliant.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
