Morten Büchert — founder of Buchert Audio

Studio, stage, classroom

I started playing and recording music long before I had any formal training. That hands-on instinct is still what drives everything I do. I later studied audio engineering at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, and have worked professionally as a freelance producer and sound engineer since 1998. Over 2,900 concerts as FOH and monitor engineer. Over 75 album credits as producer, engineer, or composer — including award-winning releases.

Since 2002, I have been sound consultant and project manager at Roskilde Festival — one of Europe's largest music festivals. Since 2008, I teach music production and music technology at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, currently as Associate Professor.

That combination — studio ears, live instincts, and years of teaching how sound works — is what shapes every Buchert Audio plugin.

Tools I wanted but couldn't find

After years of reaching for the same handful of plugins and always wanting them to work slightly differently, I started building my own. Not to compete with the tools I already use — but to fill the gaps between them.

Buchert Audio plugins are designed from perception research and shaped by ear. No analog emulation, no AI gimmicks, no feature bloat. Every parameter range, every curve, every default value is chosen because it sounds right — tested across thousands of hours of real production work.

I run this company alone. I write the DSP, design the UI, answer the support emails, and use the plugins in my own sessions every day. If something doesn't work, I hear about it — because I hear it myself.

Questions, feedback, or just want to talk audio?

I read and reply to every email personally. Whether it's a support question or a feature request — I'm always happy to hear from you.
